Hold onto your hats, because Bergün isn’t just any mountain village—it’s the gateway to the awe-inspiring Albula and Bernina lines of the Rhaetian Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site! But don’t let the train ride be your only adventure here.

Step into Guarda, a mountain village straight out of a storybook – and I mean that literally! Its charming Engadine houses served as the muse for Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet, the creators of the beloved Swiss children’s book “Schellen-Ursli.”

Here, tradition comes alive with the lively celebration of Chalandamarz, where locals bid farewell to winter in style. Guarda remains one of the most enchanting spots to witness this timeless tradition in action.

7th Place: Viano

Tucked away in Valposchiavo, Viano remains a hidden gem even among Graubünden locals. Perched above Brusio, where the Bernina Express winds through its iconic circular viaduct, this small hamlet holds secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Wanderers exploring on foot will stumble upon ancient smuggling paths and mule tracks, echoing the region’s rich and adventurous history.

8th Place: Sertig Dörfli

Imagine a tiny Alpine gem nestled in a Davos side valley—welcome to Sertig Dörfli! This charming Walser village exudes tradition and tranquility.
